In order to do some work, such as set-up a child theme, you will need an FTP account.  You can setup an FTP account for your site in the Hostgator cPanel > Files > Add FTP Account.  Enter a unique name for the FTP account, such as ‘FTPwebsitename’ in the Log in field.  Leave the Domain as it is by default, and add a password (see password manager post).  In the Directory field, type the name of your website URL until you see it pop up in yellow highlight.  It’s important that the yellow highlight is there, which will make sure the FTP account is linked to the proper database.  Click Create FTP Account.

Time: 5 minutes
